The fire department in Nikopol is receiving urgently needed reinforcements: We have acquired another fire engine and handed it over to Ukrainian rescue workers. The city of Nikopol in southern Ukraine is under daily fire and Russian drones are even deliberately attacking fire engines.
The aid campaign was made possible by a generous donation from the Doepner family from Düsseldorf, who financed the purchase of the vehicle. We also received support from the Berlin customs agency, which organized all the formalities for the export.
Since the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin has been able to deliver 188 used rescue vehicles - including 10 fire engines. In many places in Ukraine, the aid workers' vehicles are outdated or are destroyed in cowardly attacks. In order to be able to continue to help, we are collecting donations for urgently needed emergency vehicles.
