Tenth fire engine delivered to Ukraine

Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin has procured a fire engine for the eastern Ukrainian community of Zirkuny. The town, located near the front, is repeatedly the target of Russian attacks and has therefore established a volunteer fire department, which previously lacked a specialized fire engine.

The delivery was made possible thanks to the active support of volunteers from the organizations Meckenheim hilft and UA-DE, who transported the vehicle from Cuxhaven to Zirkuny. Our Ukrainian partner organization Initiative E+ and the Berlin Customs Agency once again handled the formalities.

Zirkuny is located a few kilometers northeast of the city of Kharkiv, which has a population of one million. Since the town was liberated from the occupying forces in spring 2022, it has been a regular target of Russian airstrikes. The volunteer fire department therefore plays a key role in protecting the population.

Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin has been organizing aid deliveries since 2014. This fire engine is the tenth we have been able to finance with donations and deliver to Ukraine. However, the need for firefighting and rescue vehicles remains high, especially in the highly endangered areas near the front lines.
