Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin is involved in a special rehabilitation project organized by the Don Bosco Mission Bonn in Lviv, Ukraine. The aim is to help people injured in the war to find their way back to a normal life through football training and psychological support.
Since 2014, Ukrainian soldiers have been fighting against the Russian invading army. Many of them return with serious injuries - often having lost limbs. Even when the physical wounds have healed, they have a long and arduous journey ahead of them.
This special rehabilitation project involves 25 people who lost arms or legs in the war. In addition to physical rehabilitation, football plays a central role.
The project is so successful that a children's team has been founded and away games are played. A highlight was participation in the 2024 International Helvetia Cup in Switzerland, where the team played against teams such as Chelsea FC and Everton FC.
In order to ensure the continuation of this project after September 2024, Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin is collecting donations. Every donation will help ensure that soldiers injured in war continue to have the chance to participate in life through sport and psychological support.
