In November 2022 we were able to provide Buy two fire engines from the city of WarsteinThe Ukrainian firefighters picked up their new emergency vehicles themselves in the Sauerland and received technical tips as well as protective clothing and equipment from their German colleagues.
Until then, the rescuers had to use Soviet-era cars that were in a museum and often broke down. Today, the vehicles from Germany and their crews are in constant use. Every day, they rescue people from the rubble of their homes, put out fires and provide first aid.
This aid campaign shows that many small donations together have a big impact. In many places in Ukraine, powerful fire engines and ambulances are not a given. That is why we continue and support fire departments, emergency doctors and helpers with vital equipment and vehicles.
We have recently received an inquiry from Kherson. The city is located directly on the front line and was occupied by Russian troops for eight months until its liberation in November 2022. When they withdrew, they took everything that wasn't nailed down. Since then, operational clothing and firefighter gloves have been in short supply. Thermal imaging cameras for rescuing buried victims are also urgently needed. For this vital equipment we are now collecting donations.
