Winter aid: generators and power storage for Kharkiv

Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin has once again organized an urgently needed delivery of relief supplies to the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. In several transports, 18 large diesel generators (17 kW) and 30 EcoFlow power storage units (3.6 kWh) with a total value of 173,000 euros were handed over. The devices are used to provide emergency power in various municipal aid facilities.

  • 18 generators and 15 power storage units are used in heated heat and supply tents. There are a total of 72 of these shelters in Kharkiv. In addition to heat and electricity, internet access, mobile communications and hot meals are provided.
  • The other power storage units are in use in the city administration's emergency and coordination center, where the devices are used by rescue workers to provide emergency power at impact sites following Russian air raids. The battery storage units also help in the housing and supply office and in the city's building administration in the event of power outages.

Kharkiv continues to be subjected to constant missile attacks and bombing by Russia. About 1.2 million people live in the city, including 200,000 displaced people from the surrounding front-line areas. Almost all of the electricity generation was severely damaged or destroyed by Russian attacks during 2024. Power outages are commonplace and energy supplies are strictly rationed.

The donated equipment makes an invaluable contribution to providing for people during the cold winter. The emergency tents alone provide 36,000 people with hot meals, electricity and heating every day - a number that is expected to rise as the winter progresses.

Our relief supplies help to ensure that people in Kharkiv receive basic supplies under extreme conditions. We would like to thank KWS Saat, the AKB Foundation and bagobag GmbH as well as all donors who have made this vital aid possible.
