With today's handover of another off-road vehicle for the rescue of the wounded, Ukraine Aid Berlin has concluded an important fundraising campaign. In recent weeks, we have procured and transported 14 vehicles to Ukraine. All the cars are used, have four-wheel drive, and cost between €2,000 and €8,000.
SUVs are urgently needed in Ukraine to quickly transport the wounded out of danger zones and provide them with medical care. These agile and off-road capable pickups are vital for survival in the immediate vicinity of the front lines, as regular ambulances cannot be used there.
The vehicle acquisitions were made possible by an appeal from the video blogger. Torsten Heinrich, whose spectators donated a total of €75,000. We received invaluable support from numerous volunteers who helped with the inspection and transport of the vehicles.
In total, Ukraine Aid Berlin has already procured 58 evacuation vehicles, 23 ambulances, and 6 fire engines. Because the vehicles are heavily worn and Russian troops are specifically targeting emergency vehicles, the need remains high.
