Medical aid for Ukraine: Care for the wounded & paramedics

Our medical aid to Ukraine saves lives every day: We care for seriously injured people in Germany and support emergency care directly on site in Ukraine.

The need for medical supplies and treatment is enormous, as the war claims countless victims every day. Paramedics and emergency doctors are working tirelessly – but are urgently dependent on international support.

Medical assistance: Ukraine Aid Berlin provides paramedics

The political scientist Jessica Berlin Our project is supported by their nationwide campaign #TQ4UA. Together with the professionals of Leleka Foundation We have established a reliable logistics system to provide emergency equipment directly at the deployment sites in Ukraine.

This is how we continuously organize life-saving medical assistance: We deliver thousands of tourniquets to paramedics and emergency doctors throughout Ukraine. Each of these handy tourniquets saves a life.

Tourniquets – little lifesavers

A tourniquet is a device used to restrict or completely stop blood flow in veins and arteries. It is an essential piece of equipment for medical professionals to stop severe bleeding. Every day, Ukrainian paramedics use hundreds of these tourniquets, saving the lives of injured people.

Only tested quality

However, good tourniquets are expensive (€30-40 each) and paramedics simply don't have enough. Unfortunately, many donors, out of ignorance, order cheap tourniquets from China. While these are inexpensive (€10-20 each), they are unsafe – the price difference costs lives!

With a quantity discount, we can procure high-quality tourniquets for only 22 euros each.

Go directly to the paramedics

The world is impressed by the bravery of the people of Ukraine. But many pay for their efforts with their lives or are seriously wounded. Paramedics and emergency doctors are constantly on duty to save lives – and they urgently need international support. Ukraine Aid Berlin is a registered non-profit organization. Donation for Ukraine Together with our partners at Leleka, we ensure that this emergency medical equipment gets directly into the hands of paramedics.

Medical aid: Support Ukraine on the ground with emergency equipment

We also provide direct medical support in Ukraine. Victims of airstrikes and soldiers there frequently suffer from complicated bone fractures. Without surgical intervention, lifelong nerve damage, deformities, and constant pain would be the result.

To enable these people to recover their health and lead a normal life, we support Ukrainian doctors with urgently needed materials and implants.

Bone surgery and 3D implants

Surgeons use medical screws, plates, and nails to reassemble shattered bones. In Ukraine, large quantities of all types of implants are needed for this procedure, known as osteosynthesis.

In some injuries, however, the bones are so severely shattered that they can only be replaced with specially manufactured 3D-printed implants. For this, high-quality titanium powder is melted and applied layer by layer using a 3D printer. This process creates customized jaw, joint, and skull implants.

Support and assistance with bureaucracy in Germany

Since 2014, our volunteers have been caring for injured Ukrainian soldiers receiving medical treatment in Berlin and Brandenburg. Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the federal and state governments have taken on the evacuation of over 1,000 wounded soldiers to Germany. However, once here, they face significant bureaucratic hurdles. We help them navigate the maze of forms at social welfare offices, job centers, and health insurance companies.

Medical assistance: Accompanying wounded Ukrainians during rehabilitation

Once inpatient treatment is complete, we arrange accommodation so that patients can receive outpatient care or organize their return to Ukraine. We have already been able to support more than 50 wounded people and their families in this way. In this way, we provide direct medical assistance in Ukraine and Germany.
