With donations totaling €3,000, Ukraine Aid Berlin was able to commission medical implants for six seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers. The custom-fit bone replacements are being manufactured in Ukraine in consultation with the treating physicians.
The soldiers suffered severe head and limb injuries. Surgeons performed complex operations to implant custom-made 3D implants. Each implant significantly improves their quality of life and promotes recovery.
One soldier received an implant to repair a large skull defect following a mine injury. Another required treatment after suffering numerous fractures in his arms, legs, and spine. A third, who sustained a severe head injury in a mortar attack, received a reconstructed skull implant. Other patients received implants for damaged bones in their hands, arms, or legs to restore mobility and functionality.
The average cost per implant was €558. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we were able to make these life-changing procedures possible.
Ukrainian soldiers risk their lives and health to defend their homeland, their fellow citizens, and the freedom of Europe against Russia's invading army. Every implant alleviates their suffering and allows them to live without pain.
