Hope for Ukrainian Kids

According to the United Nations, Russia has killed at least 600 children and injured more than 1,300 in Ukraine. We are helping the youngest victims of the war with emergency backpacks for airstrikes and procuring vital medication for a rare childhood disease.

Rare childhood disease

Iryna Hladun lives with her son Matviy in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv. Here, too, people are killed and injured by Russian cruise missiles. But that is not Iryna's biggest worry, because Matviy suffers from tuberous sclerosis. This rare genetic disease causes fibrous skin lesions, organ tumors, and epileptic seizures.

Medications for children

In Ukraine, 57 children suffer from this hereditary disease. Iryna knows this firsthand, having founded a support group in 2016. All of these young patients need Sabril. Currently the only effective medication, it can prevent seizures and irreversible damage, such as severe intellectual, speech, and motor developmental disorders. But Sabril is scarce and expensive.

Help with medicine and more

We procure the medicine and are assisted in this by BILD helps eV „A Heart for Children“ The organization is providing support. It is funding enough Sabril to supply all 57 children for a year. We ensure delivery to the families through our partner organizations in Ukraine. Hygiene products, balance bikes, and wheelchairs are also urgently needed. You can support the children with a donation.

Enduring in the bunker

In war, not only is the supply of vital medicines uncertain, but schools are also unsafe: Children often have to wait for hours in air-raid shelters when Russian missiles are approaching. To help them survive this terror, we provide emergency backpacks. Each backpack contains a water bottle, a lunchbox, biscuits, wet wipes, toys, and more.

Emergency backpacks for school children

The project is supported by International Club of Sly Foxes, dem Rotary Club Kyiv-Capital as well as schools and support associations in Germany. If your school would also like to help Ukrainian children with emergency backpacks, Feel free to send us an email.. Hundreds of backpacks have already been delivered, but the need is enormous. To ensure more children starting school receive an emergency backpack, we are continuing to collect donations.
