Today, on the day of introspection and outlook, Bundestag President Bärbel Bas received the Ukraine Aid Berlin team at the German Bundestag.
In her address, she emphasized the absolute necessity of voluntary engagement for the functioning and solidarity of societies. The President of the Bundestag thanked Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin for its important contribution to supporting the people of Ukraine and saving lives. Ukraine, which has been under attack since February 24, 2022, is also selflessly defending the freedom of Germany.
Oleg Motus, chairman of Ukraine Aid Berlin, reported on important aid projects that the organization has initiated since 2014, primarily in the medical field, to support the people in the war-torn country. In 2022 alone, over five million euros in donations were collected and delivered directly as aid in the form of medical backpacks, generators, and first-aid kits. He expressed his gratitude for the extraordinary solidarity and support shown by the vast majority of democratic parties in the Bundestag and the people of Germany.
The President of the Bundestag is the second-highest-ranking official in Germany according to protocol. On the German Bundestag's Open House Day, citizens can gain an impression of the parliament's work and exchange views directly with members of parliament.
