With the help of our donors, we have been able to manufacture further medical implants for seriously injured people in Ukraine. Six people with difficult fates are regaining their quality of life. Here are their impressive stories:
- A soldier's left lower jaw was shattered by a mine. Thanks to a custom-made implant, he can eat and smile again.
- A patient with a painful pelvic fracture urgently needed a new hip joint. With the help of a joint implant made especially for him, he can finally walk again without pain and has regained his freedom of movement.
- A soldier suffered severe injuries to his right jaw, resulting in significant functional impairment and cosmetic defects. Thanks to individually adapted implants, he can now speak and eat normally again.
- A woman survived a horrific road accident that resulted in a complex skull fracture. A custom-made titanium implant helped restore her skull structure. Despite the initial grim prognosis, she is now on the road to recovery.
- A military member suffered severe injuries to his lower jaw from a mine and required special treatment. The jaw was restored with a customized implant.
- Another soldier suffered a serious head injury during a mission - also from a mine explosion. His skull defect was repaired with a custom-made titanium plate and the prospects for a full recovery are good.
The doctors and engineers have performed miracles in these cases and given those affected a future. But there are many other people in Ukraine who urgently need surgery. The cost of an implant this time was between 306 and 1,056 euros. Even a few donations can finance an implant and give a new quality of life.
