For the production of 15,000 candles, Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin has procured raw materials worth 5,000 euros. The delivery, consisting of several pallets of urotropin and paraffin, has already arrived in Kyiv.
There, volunteers make the warming candles – usually in the evenings and often late into the night. They are then brought directly to regions close to the front.
Can candles are an important aid for defenders and civilians who are holding out in trenches or destroyed houses. Smoke-free and conveniently poured into cans, they burn for up to five hours. In the cold Ukrainian winter, the candles warm hands, can be used to make tea and serve as a source of light.
