In our Project for medical implants We were able to help six more people with severe head injuries. Ukraine Aid Berlin is funding the purchase of high-quality titanium powder. Ukrainian engineers are using this powder to manufacture laser-precise 3D implants for the treating physicians.
Each of these cases shows how medical skill, voluntary commitment and a few hundred euros can change a life forever:
- A soldier suffered a severe injury to his lower jaw in a mine explosion. A custom-made implant was used to restore the missing half of his lower jaw.
- A woman had to have most of her jawbone removed due to a tumor. Thanks to highly skilled surgeons and a perfectly fitting titanium implant, she was given a second chance at a fulfilling life.
- A soldier was seriously injured by artillery shrapnel, shattering one of his jaw joints. A custom-made joint implant enabled him to recover quickly and participate in society.
- A soldier suffered a severe head injury that damaged his hearing in both ears. With hearing aids and a titanium skull plate, his quality of life will improve significantly.
- A soldier was admitted to the field hospital with severe injuries and a massive head hemorrhage. Doctors were able to save his life, and a large part of his skull will now be replaced with a titanium plate.
- Another soldier was so severely injured that large fragments of his skull had to be removed in several operations. The insertion of a frontal skull implant is the final step on the road to a full recovery.
Doctors in Ukraine are tirelessly fighting to save lives and restore quality of life. We will not abandon them and are procuring more titanium powder for medical implants. In the cases described, the material costs range from 406 to 567 euros. Please help. with a donation.
