Through Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin, we were able to organize a large delivery of equipment for rescue workers. The delivery was intended for the fire department of the 40,000-person town of Boyarka near Kyiv.
A total of 14 firefighters were equipped with protective suits, helmets, protective boots, special shoes, and rescue belts. Eleven additional helmets were included in the four pallets of equipment. The material was provided by the Dresden Fire Department, to whom we extend our sincere thanks for these important donations.
We were also able to help severely wounded soldiers. To replace shattered bones, Ukrainian specialists are manufacturing 3D implants from titanium powder, which we funded with donations. The customized bone replacements are used in complex surgeries for patients.
- Two soldiers received custom-made skull plates in Kyiv. Both surgeries were successful, and the patients are on the road to recovery.
- The production of an elbow implant for a 60-year-old soldier was particularly complicated. Despite severe injuries, the father of three's hand was saved. He is now beginning a long rehabilitation process.
- Another patient successfully had a jaw implant inserted.
The average cost per implant this time was 732 euros. A small price to pay for a life-changing implant that preserves the patient's independence. Only through Donate These operations are possible. Learn more about the project and how you can help here.
