Through Ukraine Aid Berlin, we were able to organize a large shipment of equipment for rescue workers. The destination was the fire department of Boyarka, a city of 40,000 inhabitants near Kyiv.
A total of 14 firefighters were equipped with protective suits, helmets, boots, special footwear, and rescue belts. An additional 11 helmets were included in the four pallets of equipment. The equipment came from the Dresden Fire Department, to whom we extend our sincere thanks for this vital donation.
We were also able to help severely wounded soldiers. To replace shattered bones, Ukrainian specialists create 3D-printed implants from titanium powder that we financed with donations. These custom-made bone replacements are then used in complex surgeries.
- Two soldiers received custom-made skull plates in Kyiv. Both operations were successful and the patients are on the road to recovery.
- Manufacturing an elbow implant for a 60-year-old soldier proved particularly complicated. Despite severe injuries, the father of three was able to save his hand. He now faces a long rehabilitation.
- Another patient successfully had a jaw implant inserted.
The average cost per implant this time was €732. A small price to pay for a life-changing implant that preserves the patient's independence. Only through Donate These operations are possible. Learn more about the project and how you can help. here.
