More SUVs and vans have arrived in the embattled Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Kherson, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia. Volunteers from Ukraine Aid Berlin purchased the ten evacuation vehicles in Germany and transported them to Ukraine.
There, they are driven by courageous volunteers to evacuate civilians and the wounded from areas attacked by Russia. One of the cars went to Misha „Grizzly“ Matviyev, a Ukrainian veteran whose story is told in the documentary „Second Wind.“.
These aid deliveries were made possible by another fundraising campaign by the video blogger. Torsten Heinrich. In April, his ninth fundraising campaign mobilized over 500 donors. By strategically procuring pre-inspected used cars, we were able to efficiently utilize the €34,000 in donations. Logistical support was provided by Olimptrans, the Berlin Customs Agency, LK Trans, and Airbnb.org accommodations.
In total, the non-profit Ukraine Aid Berlin has brought 383 emergency vehicles to Ukraine – including 31 ambulances and 14 fire engines. However, because Russia is constantly attacking emergency services, many vehicles are also being destroyed. Each donation helps to procure more urgently needed ambulances.
