This year, we were once again able to provide 27 children suffering from the rare hereditary disease tuberous sclerosis with the vital medication Sabril. Sabril is the only effective medication that can stop epileptic seizures in tuberous sclerosis patients and prevent serious sequelae. The supply situation in Ukraine has been dire since the beginning of the war, as medications are scarce and expensive.
The project is supported by BILD hilft eV (a heart for children). The non-profit organization has financed a year's supply of Sabril for the second year in a row. Together with our local partner organizations, we organize the distribution and ensure that every child receives the necessary supplies.
In addition to medicines, hygiene products, and aids, Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin also provides school supplies. Children in Ukraine often have to spend hours in air-raid shelters to protect themselves from Russian attacks. To make their time in these underground classrooms more pleasant, we have printed 110 posters with interesting and educational topics and provided them to eight schools.
In addition, 600 Kigurumi plush suits were distributed to children in homes and emergency shelters in recent weeks. The fluffy overalls are very popular and bring a smile to the often dreary everyday lives of the youngest war victims.
