The Cherson region disaster management agency has asked us for urgent assistance in procuring relief supplies.
Russian troops have destroyed the Kakhovka Dam on the Dnipro River. Vast amounts of water from the 2,500-square-kilometer reservoir flooded large areas downstream of the dam. The city and region of Kherson were also affected.
Many people and animals are trapped and need to be evacuated. To rescue them, the Kherson Disaster and Emergency Services (DSNS) urgently needs inflatable boats with outboard motors.
We reacted immediately and financed two evacuation boats. The four-meter-long inflatable boats, type Kolibri 400D, with Suzuki outboard motors, each cost 3,400 euros.
These additional aid supplies will now be urgently needed:
- Motor pumps
- Rescue and search drones
- Foodstuffs (e.g. canned goods)
- Baby and children's food
- Life jackets and protective vests
- Waders (rubber trousers) and wading boots
