Ukraine Aid Berlin has procured raw materials worth €5,000 for the production of 15,000 tin candles. The shipment, consisting of several pallets of urotropin and paraffin, has already arrived in Kyiv.
Volunteers there make the heat-giving candles – mostly in the evenings and often late into the night. Afterwards, they are taken directly to regions near the front lines.
Canned candles are an important aid for defenders and civilians enduring the aftermath in trenches or destroyed houses. Smokeless and conveniently packaged in cans, they burn for up to five hours. In the cold Ukrainian winter, the candles warm hands, can be used for making tea, and serve as a light source.
