Hope for Ukrainian Kids
Aid for Ukrainian children in need
Providing effective aid to Ukrainian children is at the heart of our work: According to the United Nations, Russia has killed at least 600 children and injured more than 1,300 in Ukraine. We help the youngest victims of the war with emergency backpacks for airstrikes and procure vital medication for a rare childhood disease.

Help for Ukrainian children: Treating tuberous sclerosis

Iryna Hladun lives with her son Matviy in Lviv. Russian cruise missiles regularly strike here, killing and injuring people. But in addition to the deadly threat of war, Iryna is fighting against another danger: Matviy suffers from tuberous sclerosis, a hereditary disease with tumors in the brain and kidneys, as well as epileptic seizures.
In the destroyed health system, medical help for Ukrainian children with chronic illnesses is extremely difficult – without special medications, severe neurological damage is a risk.
Urgently needed medication for sick children
In Ukraine, 57 registered children currently suffer from this serious hereditary disease. Iryna knows this firsthand, as she founded a support group for affected children in 2016. All of the young patients depend on the drug Sabril.
The only currently effective medication can stop epileptic seizures and prevent irreversible consequences such as severe mental, speech, or motor developmental disorders. However, due to the war, Sabril has become scarcely available and prohibitively expensive locally.

Medical assistance and care on site

We procure the medicine directly and have been significantly supported in this by [company name] since [year]. BILD helps eV „A Heart for Children“ We support this cause. The aid organization has already repeatedly funded annual rations of Sabril to care for dozens of sick children. Through our established logistics channels and partner organizations in Ukraine, we ensure safe delivery. In addition to medicine, hygiene products, specialized nutrition, and supplies are urgently needed on site – every donation keeps this vital project going.
Emergency backpacks for schoolchildren
In war, not only is the supply of vital medicines uncertain, but schools are also unsafe: often, children have to wait for hours in air-raid shelters when Russian missiles are approaching. To help them survive this terror, we provide emergency backpacks. Each backpack contains essential items for their time in the shelter: a water bottle, a lunchbox, biscuits, wet wipes, toys, and more.
In addition, we also support children's homes and emergency shelters: Besides school backpacks, we supply these facilities with urgently needed hygiene products, household appliances and toys to give the children at least a piece of normality.
