Aid for rescue workers: Support Ukraine

We are strengthening the daily work of local rescue services – deployments of paramedics and firefighters to Ukraine demand maximum readiness. With modern protective equipment, emergency generators, and specialized vehicles, we are ensuring the safety of these lifesavers so they can help even more people in need.

Ambulance for emergency doctors

Rettungskräfte: Ukraine-Sanitäterinnen vor einem gespendeten Rettungswagen

We have already been able to hand over dozens of ambulances to Ukrainian hospitals and paramedics. Using donated funds, we purchase suitable ambulances in Germany and transport them directly to where they are most urgently needed.

Modern, well-equipped vehicles are crucial when every second counts and wounded people need to be transported to hospitals for emergency care. On the ground, they support the daily operations of local rescue services. These types of aid convoys to Ukraine ensure emergency medical care in cities and hard-hit regions.

Evacuation vehicles for initial rescue

Wherever the seriously wounded need to be evacuated from the immediate danger zone as quickly as possible, all-terrain vehicles are vital for survival. Near the front lines, ordinary ambulances quickly reach their limits on rough terrain.

Therefore, we procure and transport all-wheel drive pickup trucks and flatbed trucks: They ensure initial rescue under the most difficult conditions and quickly bring injured people to the handover points where emergency medical care can be provided.

Our lifesavers on wheels

Fire departments in constant operation

Russian troops are continuously shelling Ukrainian towns near the front. The attacks are causing deaths and serious injuries, as well as widespread destruction and fires. Firefighters are working almost non-stop to extinguish the blazes and rescue people from the rubble. We are helping by providing used fire trucks. We have already financed fourteen vehicles with donations and delivered them to Khmelnytskyi, Nikopol, Kherson, and Kharkiv.

Museum-worthy vehicle fleet

Unfortunately, many emergency vehicles in Ukraine are still of Soviet design and decades old. They are frequently out of service or break down mid-operation. To help firefighters, paramedics, and emergency physicians, we are collecting donations for used fire engines, ambulances, and evacuation vehicles. Our assistance continues, as many rescue workers still need modern and efficient vehicles to save lives.

Emergency services: Equipment & technology

Drone defense for rescue workers

We support Ukrainian rescue workers in evacuating people from conflict zones. But the rescue operations are becoming increasingly dangerous: evacuation vehicles and even ambulances are increasingly targeted by Russian drone attacks. To protect rescuers and evacuees, we are equipping ambulances and evacuation vehicles with jamming devices. Every donation helps to quickly equip many vehicles and save lives – especially where helping is most dangerous.

Electricity for lifesavers

Ukrainian cities are under daily attack from Russia. Large parts of the power grid are destroyed, and electricity is being rationed. A reliable power supply is vital for local emergency services. Many power grids across Ukraine are destroyed, which is why disaster relief organizations and emergency medical services rely on generators and energy storage systems to receive emergency calls. We are collecting donations for this equipment so that aid workers can respond immediately in emergencies.

Drones against mines

A third of Ukraine is contaminated with landmines. Russian troops left them behind in massive numbers during their retreat from occupied territories and along the front line. Now, these deadly explosive devices must be cleared as quickly as possible. But mines are often barely visible to the naked eye. Mine detection requires extreme caution from rescue workers. Aid to Ukraine, such as specialized drones equipped with thermal imaging cameras, makes it possible to locate the explosive devices from a safe distance. During the day, the devices heat up in the sun. Using the drones' thermal imaging cameras, search teams can locate them and ultimately neutralize them.

Protection for the helpers

In southern and eastern Ukraine, paramedics and police are evacuating civilians from conflict zones – often under fire from Russian troops and drone attacks. To protect themselves and continue saving lives, these aid workers need high-quality protective vests and helmets. However, the need for equipment remains high for our rescue teams. Operations in Ukraine still frequently take place without adequate protection. Therefore, we finance personal protective equipment with donations and deliver it directly to the lifesavers on the ground.
