Five patients with severe injuries have received custom-made bone replacements. These are their moving stories:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In February 2023, a soldier suffered severe injuries to his thigh, hands, and spine from artillery fire. Thanks to a 3D-printed thigh implant, surgeons were able to reconstruct his leg.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A doctor who had served on the front lines since the beginning of the war was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Following successful tumor surgery in December 2023, she received a custom-fitted skull plate. She is currently in rehabilitation and intends to continue saving lives as a military doctor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In early 2023, a soldier suffered severe head injuries in a mine explosion. During the life-saving operation, part of his shattered skull had to be removed. In December 2023, he was able to receive a 3D-printed skull replacement.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Ivano-Frankivsk, a soldier&#039;s finger was saved using an innovative cage-like modeling technique.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In December 2023, a precisely fitting implant was used for the first time as a temporomandibular joint replacement in a patient with severe deformation and limited mobility of the jaw.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In our <a href=\"https:\/\/ukraine-hilfe-berlin.de\/en\/hilfsprojekte\/implantate-fuer-verwundete\/\" title=\"Implants for the wounded\">Project for the aid of the wounded<\/a> We support Ukrainian engineers with high-quality titanium powder for 3D printing. In consultation with surgeons, they produce individually tailored bone implants.
